What is Saorview TV?

Saorview is Ireland's new digital terrestrial television service that will be replacing the old analogue TV signal. It can still be received through a UHF aerial, but the clarity of the image will be much better and all channels will eventually be broadcast in HD.

How Does Saorview TV Work?

Saorview gives you access to excellent channels like RTE, Virgin Media, and TG4. You can also listen to the radio and use digital Aertel. To get Saorview, you need to connect a Saorview box or Saorview TV to an aerial. Most TVs come with Saorview built in, but if yours doesn't, you can adapt your TV with a set-top box.

How do I install Saorview on my TV?

Installation of Saorview is quick and easy. To get started, simply connect your aerial to your new Saorview Approved TV. Once that's done, follow the on-screen instructions. Depending on the make of your television set, you may see a different custom menu; however, this shouldn't impact installation too much.

Can I get Saorview without an aerial?

An aerial is necessary to receive Saorview Connect, in addition to an active broadband connection. For the clearest reception, we recommend having a professional install an outdoor aerial.

In order to get saorview, you need a 2RN aerial. those who transmit the Saorview signals recommend using  UHF roof aerial that is installed by professionals. Your local aerial installer will be able to help identify what type of aerials is best for your location.

In some areas, it might be possible to use an attic aerial or an indoor set-top aerial. A good local installer will know the best aerial solution for your specific location and can make sure it is installed correctly and safely.
